At least 20 of Carlisle United’s games in 2024/25 will be live on Sky as part of a new broadcast deal.

Sky Sports have confirmed details for its expanded coverage of the EFL next season as part of a new £935m deal.

The broadcaster will show more than 1,000 fixtures and has committed to screening each of the league’s 72 clubs on at least 20 occasions.

It will do this through a new streaming service – Sky Sports+ – which will spell the end for the iFollow club streaming service for domestic viewers.

Every game on the opening weekend of the season, August 10-11, will be streamed.

Ten live games will be shown on a typical weekend during the season – five from the Championship, and five from Leagues One and Two combined.

Sky, who say the new service will come at no extra cost to subscribers, have also pledged to give supporters more notice of changes to the fixture schedule to accommodate the increased broadcast coverage.

They say every live game before January will be selected before the season starts, and every live game up to March will be chosen by November.

Sky and the EFL say there will be a minimum of two cameras for League Two games, with four at second and third-tier matches.

Sky Sports managing director, Jonathan Licht said it was a “ground-breaking deal for Sky and our long-standing partners, the EFL.

“We believe that fans of all 72 league clubs will benefit with increased coverage across all the leagues and competitions.

“With four times as many matches than we currently offer, we will capture even more of the excitement created by this unique league – and in a way that will be immediately accessible to millions of supporters.”

The News & Star has invited Carlisle to comment on the implications of the new deal on the Blues.
