Carlisle Trampoline Club gymnasts secured 17 spots in the North of England team after performing brilliantly at the regional finals in Durham.

Twenty athletes made the 70-mile journey from Carlisle to Durham for the decisive competition, with top honours up for grabs.

Many of them, made up of competitors aged 8 - 30, clinched first or second place, earning them a well-deserved place on the regional squad.

They will now compete in the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup at Utilita, Birmingham, come July.

"Just to make it to this point was an amazing achievement as they all had to compete in two qualification events prior and they were required to achieve a qualification score at these events," a spokesperson said.

"All the gymnasts performed beautifully and the club is proud of each and every one of them.

"We can now confirm that Carlisle Trampoline Club has taken 17 positions within the North of England team over both disciplines, which is absolutely incredible and we can't wait to see they all shine in the big arena of Birmingham."

Carlisle Trampoline Club, with head coaches Kim Trotter, Billie Percival and Vicky King, is based at Yewdale Community Centre. To find out more, you can visit their page on Facebook.
